Wales v Scotland
Scotland have qualified for the FIFA World Cup nine times, including the 1950 FIFA World Cup for which they qualified by finishing second in the 1949-50 British Home Championship but withdrew having decided they would only compete in the tournament if they finished top of the group.
They have also qualified for the UEFA European Championships on three occasions; in 1992, 1996 and 2020.
The Scottish Football Association are the second oldest Football Association in the world, being formed in 1873. The first ever international football match was a goaless draw between Scotland and England at the West of Scotland Cricket Ground in Glasgow on 30 November 1872.
Wales' first ever international match was against Scotland on 25 March 1876 when Scotland won 4-0 at the West of Scotland Cricket Ground in Glasgow.
The return match at Wrexham's Racecourse Ground on 5 March 1877 was the first international match to be played in Wales and saw Scotland win 2-0.
Wales have played Scotland more times than any other international team and more Welsh players have made their international debut against Scotland than against any other team.
